Assam govt employees exempted from biometric attendance till 31 March
March 16: A notification issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Assam on 16 March stated that, “In view of the threat of novel coronavirus in India and as a part to ensure possible preventive measures to stop the virus from spreading, all offices in the state/ institutions (both public.private)/ PSUs/ commercial organizations are directed to stop the use of such a biometric attendance system where physical attendance is required to record attendance.”
However, any other biometric attendance system where physical contact is not required (like face recognition etc) shall continue to be used as earlier. “During this period, the attendance may be marked manually in the official registers and maintained by the head of the office appropriately. The order shall remain in force till March 31,” the advisory added.
