Assam’s Youth Congress President Kamrul Islam arrested alleged ‘vandalism’

January 23: Assam’s Youth Congress president Kamrul Islam Choudhury was arrested for alleged involvement in vandalism during the anti-CAA protests in December. As per reports, Islam was booked for his alleged involvement with the violence in Christian Basti area of Guwahati on 12 December.

State Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned the name of Kamrul Islam while addressing a press meet last month. He alleged that the “the destruction near Assam Secretariat is the handiwork of this person.”
