Torch rally taken out by Silchar branch of NF Railway Employees’ Union
January 04: A torch rally was taken out on Saturday by the Silchar branch of N.F. Railways Employees’ Union as a mark of protest against alleged anti-labour policy and whimsical decision of the Railway Board. Members of the union went around the Silchar Railway Station with torch raising slogans in support of their demands.
The prime demands of the Union include:
- To stop outsourcing & privatisation in Indian Railways
- To stop curtailment of staff in Indian railways
- To stop handing over certain important trains to private sectors
- Opposition to the whimsical decision of reducing the branches of unions in divisions
- To allow supervisors to become office bearers of unions
- To scrap NPS and to restore OPS
- To grant payment risk and hardship allowance to all the technical staff working in mechanical, electrical, S & T, operating, loco and traffic running staff& trackman of construction department
- To abolish 12 hours duty roaster
- To remove anomalies of 7th CPC
- To resolve MACP anomalies.
