56 foreigners to be released from the Detention Centres in Assam
November 6: In keeping up with the verdict of the Supreme Court, the Government of Assam is going to release 56 foreigners lodged in various Detention Centres spread across the state. All of them were in the detention centers of the state for more than three years.
All these detainees have furnished a bond of Rs 1 lakh with two Indian sureties and have also given details of address of stay after release. The addresses of those who provided sureties for their release are also being verified.
Supreme Court in the month of My 2019 has passed an order according to which illegal foreigners who have spent more than three years in detention centres of the state may be released subject to certain conditions.
