District administration gives away prize in connection with Durga Puja, 2019

October 20:  A prize distribution ceremony in connection with the recently concluded Durga Puja festival ,2019 was organised by District Administration, Cachar at District Library Auditorium on Sunday, where all the puja committees were invited by the District Administration.

In her welcome address, Deputy Commissioner, Laya Madduri said that the 2019 Durga Puja has been a special one for the way people have participated in the celebration peacefully and also for introduction of the measures to check river pollution. Sahe said, “If the stakeholders work in cohesion and in a planned manner, the efforts to curb river pollution also could be minimised to a great extent in the coming days.” She congratulated the puja committees for adhering to the guidelines of pollution control and waste management and also said that further measures to check water pollution would be taken up as well.

A power point presentation was made by SLRM expert C.Srinivasan, where he mentioned that a total of 5511 kilograms of inorganic materials have been recovered during festive days from different puja pandals including kitchen wastes and out of which 840 kilograms of vegetable wastes were fed to the cattle at Silchar Goshala. MLA Silchar Dilip Kumar Paul, former Union Minister Kabindra Purkaystha also spoke during the occasion.

NCC volunteers along with SLRM volunteers who helped during Bijoya Dashami were given certificates of appreciation for their hard work and efforts to celebrate a pollution free puja.

Later on prizes were handed over to the puja committees, who were adjudged as per various categories:

Best practices:
1. Ghungoor Kuarpar Durga Puja Committee.
2. Sri sri govindo ji akhara durga puja Committee, Manipuri Para, Malugram.

Best practices:
1.National Institute of technology (NIT)Durga puja Committee
2. Mitali Sangha Puja Committee, Bilpar.

Awareness:
1. Meherpur Sarbojonin Sankuntala Duga Puja Committee.
2. Athal Basti Durga Puja Committee.

Best Clean Puja Pandal:
1. Post Office Durga Puja Committee.
2. S.S Rice Mill Durga Puja Committee, Sibbari Road, Tarapur.

Also present during the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cachar,  Sumit Sattawan, Assistant Commissioners Navanita Hazarika and Kim Changsen among others.
