Himanta Biswa Sarma participates in road show & election rally at Ratabari

October 15: The political battle at Ratabari has warmed up with both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wrestling hard to win the by-election. The by-polls to the four Assembly seats including Ratabari constituency in Assam will be held on 21 October, 2019.

On Tuesday, state Finance Minister & BJP heavyweight leader Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma came to Ratabari to campaign in favour of the party candidate Bijoy Malakar. Himanta participated in election rallies at Ratabari and Ramkrishnagar. He also took to the streets and walked a 10 kms stretch from Anipur to Ramakrishnanagar Nagar amidst chants on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Himanta expressed confidence that his party will win 90 seats in the 2021 assembly polls in the state.

Himanta Biswa Sarma was accompanied in the road show by Karimganj MP Kripanath Mallah, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Cachar BJP President Kaushik Rai, Kanad Purkayastha along with BJP candidate of Ratabari Assembly constituency, Bijoy Malakar followed by a multitude of party leaders, cadres and supporters.

The road show was followed by a public meeting at Ramkrishna Nagar at 8 PM on Tuesday. Taking to twitter, Himanta wrote, “In my long political career, I’ve rarely seen such incredible enthusiasm in a by-poll. It was well past 8 pm & thousands have thronged this election meeting at Ram Krishna Nagar in Ratabari.” Addressing the crowd, Himanta said, “We are confident that the people of Ratabari will definitely vote for Bijoy Malakar because they have seen how the BJP government is striving hard for a corruption free society.”

In the Ratabari by-election, four candidates are in the game. They are- Congress candidate Keshav Prasad Rajak, BJP’s Bijoy Malakar, Birendra Rabi Das from SUCI and independent candidate Parikshit Roy. However, the main fight will be between  Keshav Prasad Rajak of the Congress and Bijoy Malakar of BJP.
