Assam College Teachers’ Association donates Rs.6 lakh to CMs Relief Fund
August 12: It’s a usual perception by a section of the society that teacher’s organizations are only devoted for realisation of their monetary demands from the government. Contrary to this view, Assam College Teachers’ Association (ACTA) came forward and donated an amount of 6 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
On Monday, a delegation of ACTA led by its President Biswajit Bhuyan went to meet the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal and handed over a cheque of Rs.6 lakh to him. The other office bearers of ACTA who were present during the occasion were Himangshu Maral, General Secretary of ACTA, Dr. Anupam Dutta, Academic Secretary, Dr. Dhanjeet Deka, Office and Publicity Secretary and Dr. Deben Bora , CEC member, Kamrup Metro zone.
Expressing his view, General Secretary of ACTA, Himangshu Maral said, “The decision to donate Rs.6 lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was taken in the Central Executive Committee Meeting of ACTA held on 28 July, 2019. We are happy to be able to stand beside the people of Assam in their hour of distress in our humble way.”
