5th gold in 20 days, Hima Das keeps tricolour flying high in abroad
July 21: What a stupendous performance! Not once, twice, third or fourth, but Assam’s sprint queen Hima Das continues her winning spree and grabbed her fifth gold in the month after finishing 400 m on the top at Prague in Czech Republic on Saturday. With this win, she has returned to her 400-metre race-style clocking season-best time of 52.09 seconds. Her season-best performance recorded before July 20th, 2019 was 52.88 seconds. Her personal best is 50.79 seconds, recorded at the Asian Games 2018.
Expressing her joy, Hima Das took to her Twitter handle & stated: “Finished 400m today on the top here in Czech Republic today.” Hima Das, who hails from Dhing in Assam’s Nagaon district, clocked 52.09 seconds to complete the 400 m race and registered best timing of the season.

In her first competitive 200m race of the year, the old Assam runner had clocked 23.65 seconds on her way to gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on July 2. After that, she won her second 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet, also in Poland, on July 7 with a time of 23.97 seconds. On July 13, she won her third 200m gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet in Czech Republic with a time of 23.43.
Hima Das clinched her fourth gold of the fortnight as she won the 200m race with a creditable time in the Tabor Athletics Meet in Czech Republic on Wednesday. As per reports, Hima won the race in just 23.25 seconds.
