DC Hailakandi calls to cancel certification of Blue Flowers Schools

July 20: In a letter to the Commissioner and Secretary, Secondary Education, Assam, Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi urged to cancel the certification of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School. It needs mention here that the school used students in a protest over poor road condition at Rabindra Sarani in Hailakandi town.

The pathetic road condition leading to their educational institution led the students of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School, Hailakandi to resort to agitation by organising road blockade on 9 July, 2019. It is in this regard that the Hailakandi district administration has served show cause notice to Blue Flowers English Medium HS School for allowing minor children to take part in the road blockade. Apart from the show cause notice, the district administration on Tuesday also filed an FIR against the Principal of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School, Hailakandi for violation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

However, the principal of the school is “missing” ever since the filing of the FIR. The Deputy commissioner in her letter to the Commissioner and Secretary, Secondary Education stated that the principal of the school Kshtish Ranjan Pal along with teachers headed the road blockade by involving quite a good number of minor children in uniforms on July 9th, 2019 throwing traffic out of gear and causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians alike for close to three hours.

The minor school students in uniform were used to block the road in gross violation of the Right to Education Act 2009 and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015. It is in this backdrop that Keerthi Jalli urged the Commissioner and Secretary to cancel the certification of the school to “keep the young minds away from such a toxic academic environment”.
