Election Observers for Silchar Municipal Corporation Election
SILCHAR, September 13: — Following the placing of their services at the disposal of the Assam State Election Commission by the Government of Assam, Personnel (A) Department, four senior Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers have been appointed as Election Observers for the Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Election, 2026.
As per the order, the Election Observers have been assigned specific groups of wards of the Silchar Municipal Corporation.
Ranjit Swargiary, ACS, Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam, Cultural Affairs Department, Dispur, Guwahati-06, Contact No. 8638568266, has been appointed Election Observer for Ward Nos. 1 to 11.
Eldad Lalthakum Faihriem, ACS, Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam, Higher Education Department, Dispur, Guwahati-06, Contact No. 9954330408, has been assigned Ward Nos. 12 to 22.
Dipak Jidung, ACS, Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam, Transformation & Development Department, Dispur, Guwahati-06, Contact No. 9954036252, has been appointed Election Observer for Ward Nos. 23 to 32.
Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, ACS, Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam, Barak Valley Development Department and attached to Mini Secretariat, Barak Valley, Contact No. 9707346070, has been assigned Ward Nos. 33 to 42.
The Election Observers for the SMC Election, 2026 have already arrived in Silchar and are presently stationed here.
Candidates contesting the SMC Election, their election agents and members of the public who wish to contact the Election Observers regarding matters relating to the SMC Election, 2026 may contact the respective observers at the telephone numbers given above. They may approach the observer concerned regarding election related matters pertaining to the municipal wards assigned to them.
The ward wise allocation of responsibilities covers all 42 wards of the Silchar Municipal Corporation with each designated observer entrusted with a specific group of wards.
All concerned candidates, election agents and members of the public may contact the respective Election Observers for matters relating to the SMC Election, 2026 in accordance with the prescribed election procedures.
