Cachar Administration extends restaurant operating hours for FIFA World Cup fans

way2barak, July 15: —In a fan-friendly initiative aimed at enabling football enthusiasts to enjoy the live telecast of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Semi-Final and Final matches without inconvenience, the District Administration, Cachar, has extended the operating hours of restaurants across the district till 3:30 A.M. on 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th July, 2026.

The decision has been taken in compliance with the directive of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma who has instructed all concerned authorities to facilitate football lovers during the late-night matches by allowing restaurants to remain open beyond their usual operating hours.

Acting promptly on the Chief Minister’s direction, the District Administration has requested all concerned authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure that restaurants are permitted to operate until 3:30 A.M. on the specified dates. The measure is intended to provide football fans with a safe and convenient environment to gather and enjoy the FIFA World Cup Semi-Final and Final matches.
