১৪ এপ্রিল : সুস্মিতা দেবের জন্য ভোট চাইতে শিলচরে এসে রবিবার ঠাকুমা ইন্দিরা গাঁধীর কথা টেনে আনলেন কংগ্রেস সাধারণ সম্পাদক প্রিয়াঙ্কা গান্ধী। তিনি বলেন,  সুস্মিতা দেব আমার ঠাকুমারই মতো। ইন্দিরা গাঁধী ছিলেন দিল সে সাচ্চে। সুস্মিতাও তা-ই। তাঁর কথায়, সুস্মিতা দেবকে দিল্লিতে খুব কাছে থেকে দেখেছি। যে কোনও ইস্যুতে রাস্তায় বেরিয়ে পড়েন।

কংগ্রেসের বহু প্রতীক্ষিত হাই ভোল্টেজ রোড শো শুরু হয় কাছাড় ক্লাব পয়েন্ট থেকে। তাতে প্রিয়াঙ্কার সঙ্গে ছিলেন বরিষ্ঠ কংগ্রেস নেতা হরিশ রাওয়াত ও শিলচর আসনের প্রার্থী সুস্মিতা দেব। খোলা গাড়িতে চড়ে প্রিয়াঙ্কা শহরের বিভিন্ন রাস্তায় সমর্থকদের উদ্দেশ্যে হাত নাড়েন। তাঁকে দেখতে বিশাল সংখ্যক জনতা রাস্তার দুইপাশে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলেন। তাঁর গাড়ির পেছনেও ছিল বিশাল জনস্রোত।

পরে রাঙ্গিরখাড়িতে পৌঁছে কংগ্রেস সাধারণ সম্পাদক প্রিয়াঙ্কা গান্ধী বক্তৃতা করেন। তিনি বলেন, ঠাকুমা ইন্দিরা গান্ধীও শিলচরে এসে যথেষ্ট বড়সড় সংবর্ধনা পেয়েছিলেন। ঠাকুমার কাছে শুনেছিলেন, এই অঞ্চলের মানুষ তাঁকে খুব ভালবাসেন। কারণ তাঁর স্বচ্ছ নীতি এখানকার মানুষের খুব পছন্দ ছিল। এরপরই আবার সুস্মিতার সঙ্গে ইন্দিরাকে মিলিয়ে দেন।

বলেন, সুস্মিতা দেবও একই ধরনের স্বচ্ছ নীতির নেত্রী। তাঁর রাজনৈতিক দক্ষতার সঙ্গে দিল্লিতেই প্রিয়ঙ্কার পরিচয় হয়েছে বলে জানান তিনি। তাঁর কথায়, সুস্মিতা দেবের মধ্যে একজন দক্ষ নেতার সমস্ত গুণাবলী রয়েছে।

রাহুল গান্ধীর মতো প্রিয়াঙ্কাও এ দিন নরেন্দ্র মোদিকেই তাঁর আক্রমণের বর্শামুখ করেন। তবে দাদার ঢঙে নয়। একবারও চৌকিদার শব্দের উল্লেখ করেননি। মাত্র কিছুদিন আগে সক্রিয় রাজনীতিতে যোগ দিলেও পরিণত নেত্রীর মতই বললেন, মোদির সংসদীয় আসন বারাণসীতে তিনি বহুবার গিয়েছেন। মানুষের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছেন। তাদের মোদির ওপর প্রচণ্ড রাগ। কারণ তিনি দেশ-বিদেশ ঘুরে বেড়ালেও নিজের এলাকায় যাওয়ার সময় পান না।

চাকরিশূন্যতা, কৃষকদের সঙ্কট, মহিলাদের নিরাপত্তাহীনতার কথা উল্লেখ করেই বলেন, সমস্যার কথা আপনাদের আর কী বলব! এই অঞ্চলেও কি কম সমস্যা। সে সবের সমাধান কি হয়েছে? মোদী সরকারের প্রচার আর বাস্তবে কতটা ফারাক, সে সবের বড় উদাহরণ তো আপনারাই। তাঁর বক্তব্য, নীতি ও তা বাস্তবায়নের ইচ্ছা এক বিন্দুতে মিললেই কাজ হয়। এখানেই ফারাক কংগ্রেস ও বিজেপির মধ্যে।

April 14:The huge crowd in the road show makes me eager to visit Silchar time and again. My grandmother Indira Gandhi too was given such a warm reception when she came to Silchar. This was because people loved the policies adopted by Indira Gandhi. The way Indira Gandhi did politics for the masses, a similar nature is exhibited by Sushmita Dev. She has all qualities of an able politician. This was what Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi said during a road show in favour of Congress candidate Sushmita Dev at Silchar.

The much awaited high voltage road show of Congress began at Silchar on Sunday. Congress General Secretary and its star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi is on her maiden visit in Assam. At Silchar, her road show began from the Cachar Club point. Priyanka along with Congress candidate Sushmita Dev and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat were on an hood-less vehicle waving hands at their supporters. A huge crowd followed them. Wherever the rally went through, enthusiastic supporters greeted Priyanka.

At Rangirkhari point, Priyanka Gandhi addressed the public wherein she urged the people to vote for Sushmita. She started speaking by wishing the crowd ‘Subho Nabobarsha.’ In her brief speech, Priyanka said, “In the last 5 years PM Modi has not found time to visit his own constituency and interact with the people who elected him to power, but he had enough time to tour half of the nations of the world.”

She said, “I have gone through the entire constituency of Narendra Modi and interacted with people at grassroot level. People in his own constituency are dissatisfied with him.” Saying so, she appealed to the people to make Sushmita victorious.

Earlier in the day, Priyanka Gandhi was received at Silchar airport by Sushmita Dev, Harish Rawat, Ripun Bora, Ajit Singh, Sanjib Roy among others. On the way to Silchar town from the airport, Priyanka went to Kachakanti Temple at Udharbond and offered puja.

Silchar will go for the polls on 18 April, 2019 and the results of the same will be declared on 23 May.
