Relentless rainfall forces closure of Paloi-Derby-Borjalenga road
way2barak, June 3: Amid persistent and heavy rainfall lashing the region, a crucial stretch of the Paloi-Derby-Borjalenga Road has been rendered impassable, prompting authorities to impose a temporary closure for all vehicular and pedestrian movement. According to a notice issued by the Assistant Executive Engineer of the Dholai Territorial Road Sub-Division, Rituraj Das, the affected stretch lies between chainage 8170 metres to 9330 metres, where large portions of the road have been submerged under accumulated rainwater.
This unforeseen inundation poses significant safety risks to commuters and has compelled the Public Works (Roads) Department to act swiftly in restricting access to the compromised section. The temporary prohibition has been implemented purely from a safety standpoint, as the waterlogged road surface may lead to accidents, structural damage, or even the threat of being stranded.
Residents, daily commuters, and transport operators are advised to exercise patience and adopt alternate routes until the water recedes and the road is declared safe for use. The inconvenience caused by this measure is deeply regretted, but public safety remains paramount. Officials assure that necessary monitoring and updates will follow in due course.
The relentless monsoon may have disrupted routine travel, but coordinated civic efforts are underway to manage the situation and restore normalcy at the earliest.
This is stated in a press release issued from Regional Office of Information & Public Relations Barak Valley Zone Silchar Assam.
