Assam to host investors meet next year
way2barak November 25: Assam govt is set to hold a two-day global investors’ summit in February next year. ‘Advantage Assam 2.0’ is scheduled for Feb 24 to 25.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit, where infrastructural development of Assam will also remain one of the prime focal points.
Addressing the media on Sunday, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Investment will only come to the state when its infrastructure will be developed. There will be several sessions related to infrastructure developments, including road transport, railways, agriculture and civil aviation infrastructure systems. Sessions on industrial investment and hydrocarbon industry will also be held during the summit. Union ministers of these ministries will be called to inaugurate the sessions.”
As investors from across the country and beyond will come to the state for the summit, the Jhumur performance of around 7,500 artists from 800 tea estates of Assam will be displayed during that time so that they can have a glance at the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Three representative teams of the govt will hosts theme-based road shows in Singapore, Japan, USA, United Kingdom and Dubai to welcome investors from there. Six road shows will also he held in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmadabad and Kolkata. Teams will also visit Bhutan.
Sarma added that Assam govt started the Advantage Assam initiative to increase investment potential in the state and it resulted in significant flow of investment to the state in the last few years. However, due to the Covid pandemic the infrastructure built during Advantage Assam 1.0 could not be carried forward.
