Akhil Gogoi suspended on the 1st day of the winter session of Assam Assembly

way2barak, Dec.20: MLA Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday was suspended from the Assam Assembly. It was the first day of the winter session and MLA Gogoi wanted to ask a supplementary question pertaining to violence against women to  which the Speaker disallowed. Finally, Speaker Biswajit Daimary suspended Akhil Gogoi for “disrupting proceedings” and was then taken out of the House by putting marshal.

Later on, taking to his twitter handle, Sivasagar MLA Akhil wrote, “Assam tops the list among the Indian states in the crimes against women. Last year,48 women were raped and killed in Assam. Every day instances of chain snatching, sexual harassment is becoming common in cities like Guwahati. For raising this imp issue I was suspended from the ALA.
