Ahead of cabinet meeting, Himanta Biswa Sarma receives warm welcome in Silchar

way2barak, Nov.29: Ahead of the Cabinet Meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma received a warm reception from the people of Silchar. A sea of people thronged the road to welcome the Chief Minister.

In the morning, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for a road widening & guard wall project on both sides of Rangirkhal channel in Silchar town. The ₹42.06-cr project will rejuvenate the 17-km channel, which carries a huge volume of rain & storm water, and mitigate urban floods to a great extent. He was accompanied by his cabinet colleague Ashok Singhal, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, MLA Dipayan chakraborty among others.

From there, he went to attend the cabinet meeting at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. On the way, large number of people gathered on the streets to catch a glimpse of the Chief Minister. Dr Sarma too responded to the warm welcome of the people and waved towards the crowd coming out of his vehicle.

While entering the office of the DC Cachar, he was also accorded a warm reception by the people. The Chief Minister will address a press conference at DC Office, Cachar, today at 1:45 pm.
