Music lover youths take to the streets of Silchar to collect funds for helping flood victims

Music speaks the language of love & compassion

July 3: ‘Music World’ an organisation of music lovers of Silchar in a unique way has taken to the streets to stand besides the flood affected people. A group of new generation youths were suddenly seen to sing songs playing guitar and some other musical instruments and sing to their heart’s content songs with placards in their hands which read, “Donate generously for flood victims.” A small box was placed in front of them where passers-by were contributing money.

“The people of Silchar are aware of the devastating flood that hit the town recently. We the artists of this generation have taken to the streets to appeal to the masses to stands beside us so that we can help the people come out of this critical situation augmented by the recent flood. We the music lovers do not have other option but to use our music to become a catalyst of change. We have placed a donation box, where people as per their capability are giving money with which we would purchase relief materials and distribute it among the flood victims,” said Aritra Dhar one of the participants of Music World.

Aritra further said, “We are indeed greatful to find that people are generously contributing for the cause for which we have taken to the streets. I on behalf of each one of us would like to thank the people from the core of the heart for their generosity. This flood has provided testimony to the fact that humanity is still alive.” Indeed during the flood, it has been been observed that many individuals, NGO’s, clubs, private organisations have dedicated themselves in helping the people in distress. These young brigade have braved the high level water and provided drinking water and other essential commodities in the flood ravaged areas of Silchar.

On Sunday evening, around 25 young boys and girls, all associated with the world of music were seen to perform for a genuine cause at Premtola, Silchar. Life would indeed have been more miserable during the recent devastating floods, if the local youths have not risked their lives and helped the people….
