Dr. M. Ariz. Ahmed, Principal Secretary gives stress on schemes & services which would improve quality of life of the people in Barak

May 15: A high level discussion was held at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar regarding collaboration of District Administration, Cachar with NIT Silchar and Assam University to help in Monitoring and Evaluation of schemes & services to improve quality of life of the people. The event was chaired by Dr. M. Ariz. Ahmed, IAS Principal Secretary, Transformation & Development Department, Govt. of Assam.

The meeting was also attended by Rajib Roy, DDC Cachar, Mrs Ruli Daulagapu, SPO Cachar along with Director of NIT Silchar Dr. Sivaji Bandopadhyay, Dr Rajive Mohan Pant, Vice Chancellor of Assam University and Professors of NIT Silchar.

It was decided in the meeting that a Officer from District Administration along with 2 Professors from each of the institute will act as a Nodal Officer. A team led by the Nodal Officers will make road map for improving quality of life of people in targeted villages with the help of schemes which are already implemented in the district by end of June 2022. The collaboration will help in holistic development of the targeted villages in the stipulated time.

The Principal Secretary also took stock of various schemes in Cachar district, which are:

1. Name of scheme: Advanced Life Support Ambulance for Cachar under CSR support from NERTS, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. Cachar.

2. Name of scheme: Construction of 5 (five) bedded ICU with ICU equipments at SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar under MPLADS & CSR support from NERTS, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. Cachar.

3. Name of scheme: Blood Bank vehicle for Blood Bank of SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar under CSR support from NERTS, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. Cachar.

It needs mention here that Dr. M. Ariz. Ahmed, IAS Principal Secretary, Transformation & Development Department, Govt. of Assam is on a three-day visit to Barak valley. He on arriving in Barak Valley on 13 May, also participated in the ongoing Gunotsav at Karimganj district on 14 May and acted as an External Evaluator at Paschim Naigram LP School. He then monitored various ongoing schemes in Border areas accompanied by DC Karimganj and officers of BSF.

In the morning on 15 May, the Principal Secretary chaired a meeting with DDCs of Cachar, Karimganj & Hailakandi and office of the Divisional Commissioner of Barak Valley along with Director of NIT, Silchar and Team on building collaboration in Monitoring & Evaluation of Schemes. Expressing his views, the Principal Secretary opined that proper implementation of these schemes will go a long way in standing besides the people and thereby improving their quality of life. The Principal Secretary left for Guwahati from Silchar Airport at late afternoon on Sunday.
