Water level of Barak at Annapurnaghat recorded at 20.15 mt at 10 PM on Saturday, trend rising

May 14: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak started to increase. As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 10 PM on Saturday was flowing much above the danger level and was recorded at 20.15 metre. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level was rising by 1 cm per hour. Prior to that, water level was rising by around 5 to 6 cm per hour.

Meanwhile, not only Barak, but water level was increasing in all the rivers of Barak Valley.

Now adding to the woes of the people, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati has predicted incessant and heavy rainfall over most of the North Eastern states till May 17. This weather condition is a result of moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal over the northeastern states along with strong southerly and southwesterly winds.
