Govt to take steps for socio-economic & academic empowerment of indigenous Muslims: CM
CM Dr. Sarma receives report for development of indigenous Muslims
April 21: Consequent upon formation of sub-committees for the overall development of indigenous Assamese Muslim community in Assam, the 7 sub-committees submitted their reports containing their recommendations to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at a programme held at Janata Bhawan today.
It may be noted that State government under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held an interaction with the eminent personalities from indigenous minority communities across the state last year. The sub-groups were thus constituted as a decision of the meeting to undertake a study and give recommendations on cultural identity, health, education, skill development, population stabilization, financial inclusion and women empowerment submitted their reports.
The sub-committees after their study, framed report containing their recommendations and submitted the same to the Chief Minister. Upon receiving the report, Dr. Sarma said that based on the recommendations, his government would formulate short term, medium term and long term plan for implementing the recommendations for achieving socio-economic and academic empowerment of the indigenous Assamese Muslim community in Assam.
Minister for Welfare of Minorities etc. Chandra Mohan Patowary, Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chairman and members of the sub-committees and senior officers of the government were present on the occasion.
