১৮ জানুয়ারিঃ ফের মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার । এ বার মিলল যুবতীর দেহ। বয়স আনুমানিক ২৭-২৮ বছর। আতালবস্তিতে রামনগর-সোনাবাড়িঘাট বাইপাসের পাশে ঘাগড়া নদীর পাড়ে পড়েছিল মৃতদেহটি। অনেকটাই নির্জন এলাকা। কবে কখন কে তাকে মারল, কিছুই বোঝা যাচ্ছে না। এমনকী, এ পর্যন্ত মৃতার পরিচয়ও পাওয়া যায়নি। এলাকাবাসী সকালে মৃতদেহটি দেখতে পেলে পুলিশে খবর দেন।

তারা মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার করে মেডিক্যাল কলেজে পাঠান ময়না তদন্তের জন্য। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, নিয়ম অনুযায়ী পরিচয় বের করার জন্য ৭২ ঘণ্টা দেহ মর্গে থাকবে। ময়না তদন্তের আগে পুলিশ কিছু বলতে না চাইলেও এলাকাবাসীর অনুমান, ধর্ষণের পর মেরে ফেলা হয়েছে তাকে।

January 18: Another new event gets added to the ongoing series of crime history of Cachar district. In the early hours of Friday, local people saw a dead body of a girl lying on the banks of Ghagra river near Atalbasti Ramnagar-Sonabarighat bypass. Though the identity of the deceased girl could not be ascertained, yet it seems that the girl will be aged 27 to 28 years.

The place from where the dead body was recovered is most a secluded one. It is still not clear how, when and why she was killed (or died). Local people informed the police after spotting the body early in the morning on Friday. Police has recovered the body and sent for post-mortem at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. As per police source, the body will kept in the morgue for 24 hours for identification. However, police was not ready to speak any further at this moment. But local people doubted that in all probability, the girl was killed by miscreant(s) after raping her.
