Police seizes 500 bags of urea hidden under potato sacks in Cachar, 2 nabbed
The truck full of urea was on its way to Mizoram
April 15: Once again the urea syndicate in Cachar has raised its ugly head. A truck full of subsidized urea was apprehended by Cachar Police while being attempted to smuggle them to Mizoram.
On Thursday night, a truck bearing number AS 11 AC 4557 carrying potato sacks was on its way to Mizoram. The truck which came from Guwahati somehow managed to evade the staff deployed at Digorkhal Combined Check Gate. However, ot was apprehended by the Katigorah Police.
On being searched, Police recovered 500 bags full of area hidden beneath potato sacks from inside the truck. Police also apprehended the truck driver Moinul Haque and the handyman Sukumar Das. They had in a clever manner hidden large quantity of bags containing urea under potato sacks and were on their way to Mizoram from Guwahati.
It was alleged that three persons of the syndicate, Munna, Amjad and Rakib were in all probability involved with the illegal smuggling of urea from Assam to Mizoram. It was further alleged that they were able to manage a few of the men in uniform in carrying out this unholy nexus. Earlier also, this trio was alleged to have been involved with the urea syndicate.
It needs mention here that these three persons went into hideout during the recent drive conducted by Cachar Police against against those running the urea syndicate. They remained at large and were unable to be traced by the Cachar Police.
