In the memorandum addressed to the Police Super, MP Sushmita Dev wrote, “I would like to draw the attention of the District Administration following the deteriorating law and order situation in the district of Cachar, particularly in the rural areas. The increasing number of daring dacoity, theft, kidnapping for extortion of money and unlawfully demand of ransom has become a routine affairs in the district which is a matter of great concern. Snatching of cash in broad daylight in front of different Banks in the close proximity of Silchar town is another example of deteriorating law and order situation in the district.”

She wrote, “It is of grave concern when recently Silchar witnessed one such unfortunate incident where a retired Teacher was attacked with his accompanying wife and kids and manhandled in the name of religious adventurism, even his car was also broken. Cachar will like to see an unbiased, uncompromised and a fearless administration to act in the interest of people and in return the people of Cachar will respect them as their saviour.”

On the issue of alleged custodial death of citizens of Cachar in Mizoram, she wrote, “The death of persons from Cachar in Mizoram especially in Police custody is also alarming and needs appropriate action.
