Dr Charvak from Silchar elected as Vice President of All Assam Chess Association

Feb. 16: In a welcome note, President of Cachar District Chess Association, Dr Charvak was elected as the Vice President of All Assam Chess Association. The election of All Assam Chess Association took place on last Sunday at the Hiteshwar Saikia Auditorium at Maligaon. Dr Charvak defeated Dhiren Chetia of Charaideo to bag the post of Vice president of this prestigious association. Apart from him, Dr Intikabur Rahman was also elected as another Vice President of the state chess association.

Meanwhile, Kandarpa Kalita from Darrang defeated Krishnanjan Chanda of Guwahati and won the post of President of All Assam Chess Association. It needs mention here that 40 delegates from 20 eligible district chess associations participated in the voting for electing the office bearers an executive committee members for a term of three years.

Rajib Dhar was re-elected as the Secretary of the All Assam Chess Association without any contest. Also, 5 Zonal Secretaries and 8 members of the executive committee got elected to the association without any contest. Pratul Sinha and Manoshjyoti Deb from Hailakandi were elected without contest for the posts of Zonal Secretary and executive member respectively.

Naresh Sharma, Treasurer of All India Chess Federation was the Observer to the election of the office bearers of All Assam Chess Association held on 13 February. Homen Chandra Rabha was the Returning Officer.
