DC Cachar briefs media on “ECI voter’s awareness contest”

Feb. 16: Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli along with Election Officer, Navanita Hazarika held a press conference on ECI voters awareness contest at the conference hall of DC Cachar here on Wednesday.
Addressing the media persons, DC Jalli said, “Election Commission of India on the occasion of National Voters Day, 2022 launched a voter awareness contest with a theme ‘My vote is my future : Power of one Vote’ to reiterate the importance of every vote through creative expression.” As per Election Commission of India (ECI), SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation) voters awareness contest aims to manifest creativity of the people while strengthening democracy through their active involvement.

While elaborating on the contest, DC Jalli said, “There are five categories of contest, which includes quiz, slogan, song, video and poster making. The idea behind arranging quiz contest is to engage with inquisitive minds to gauge the awareness level of participants regarding the electoral process of the country. There will be 3 levels: easy, intermediate and difficult. In addition to that, all participants will receive e-certificates”.

“Participants will have to weave words to make catchy slogan on the given theme to inspire others for slogan contest. The song contest is aimed at harnessing the talent and creative minds through a medium of song in any form including classical, contemporary and rap etc or they can share or create original compositions on the given theme. Video making contest provides an opportunity to all camera lovers to create a video that celebrates the diversity and festivity of elections in India,” said the Deputy Commissioner.

“The video shall be made of one minute duration only. The entries for video, slogan and song can be made in any official language as per 8th schedule of Indian Constitution. In poster design contest, the participants would create thought provoking posters on the theme,” mentioned DC Jalli.

In her address, Election Officer Navanita Hazarika stated that song contest, video making contest and poster design contest are classified into 3 different categories institutional, professional and amateur. The top three winners  in each category will be awarded exciting cash prizes. The contest had already begun and entries shall be submitted by 15 March, 2022. The participants shall go through detail guidelines, terms and conditions on the website: ecisveep.nic.in/contest. Hazarika further stated that participants shall email their entries with details to voter-contest@eci.gov.in.
