1 more Covid +ve patient die at SMCH in last 24 hours

4 in ventilation, 9 in oxygen support out of 31 active cases at SMCH

Jan. 23: There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 22 January to 5 PM on 23 January) witnessed the death of 01 more Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening.

The deceased was identified as:

  • Ajay Kumar Nath (70) from Jaifarpur in Cachar district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH at 8 PM on 21 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 8.45 PM on 22 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute kidney injury, acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 23 January, there were 31 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 04 patients were put under ventilator support, and 09 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 14 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 08 were discharged. A total of 22 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 11 in RTPCR on Sunday. Majority of them detected positive on Sunday opted for home isolation.
