407 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Saturday, 320 discharged & 2 deaths at SMCH
There are 2,241 active cases in Cachar
Jan. 22: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Saturday at 6.30 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 400-mark on Saturday. A total of 407 persons were found positive in the district on 22 January. Also, 320 patients were discharged (262 from home & 58 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,241 out of which, 2,084 are in home isolation whereas 157 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Friday, 431 persons were found positive in Cachar.
As per the updated data, a total of 2,784 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 347 persons were found positive, whereas 60 were detected positive out of 473 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 5,005 whereas during this phase, 2,749 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 21 January to 12 noon of 22 January, 2022. There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 21 January to 5 PM on 22 January) witnessed the death of 02 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as:
- Dulon Chandra Das (52) from Algapur in Hailakandi district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 18 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 9.30 PM on 21 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, dyselectrolytemia, uremic encephalopathy, chronic kidney & artery diseases.
- Riyan Malakar (02 months), S/O Ramendra Malakar from Nilambazar in Karimganj district tested Covid positive and got admitted at SMCH at 8.50 PM on 21 January. The baby died at 9.50 AM on 22 January, 2022. This 2 months old baby was also suffering from bacterial infection in blood.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 22 January, there were 31 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 04 patients were put under ventilator support, and 09 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 11 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 22 were discharged. A total of 44 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 11 in RTPCR on Saturday. Majority of them detected positive on Saturday opted for home isolation.
