214 detected Covid positive in Cachar on Wednesday, 1 death at SMCH

There are 780 active cases in Cachar

Jan. 12: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Wednesday at 6.50 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 200-mark in Wednesday also. A total of 214 persons were found positive in the district on 12 January. Also, 42 patients were discharged (14 from hospital & 28 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 780, out of which, 680 are in home isolation whereas 100 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Tuesday, 269 persons were found positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,800 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 144 persons were found positive, whereas 70 were detected positive out of 483 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 21,496 whereas during this phase, 20,493 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 11 January to 12 noon of 12 January, 2022.

There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 11 January to 5 PM on 12 January) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening.

The deceased identified as Jahura Begum (49) from Ward No. 22, Silchar tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 11 January (1.13 PM). The patient, however, breathed her last at 3.30 PM on 12 January, 2022. Prior to this, another Covid patient, Subir Chakraborty (69) from Das Colony, Silchar died at SMCH on 10 January.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 12 January, there were 33 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 05 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 03 were discharged. Further, 07 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre and 51 opted for home isolation.
