60 Covid +ve cases detected in IIT Guwahati, institute declared as containment zone

Jan. 5: In view of the detection of 60 Covid-19 positive cases at IIT, Guwahati, the District Magistrate of Kamrup issued containment orders in the campus of the institution with effect from 5 January, 2022. Under orders of declaring IIT Guwahati as Containment Zone, it was stated that no entry and exit of population will be allowed in the campus unless unavoidable circumstances arise.

Meanwhile, orders were issued to prepare the list of persons who came with direct contact or indirectly to the above mentioned affected persons during the event of their recent history and ensure sample collection of all the contacted personnel (directly or indirectly) by deploying the medical persons. Most of the students detected as Covid positive returned from outside Assam to the IIT Guwahati campus after holidays.
