Swarnojyoti Foundation & NYKS join hands to clean banks of river Barak

Oct. 30: A ‘clean up campaign’ of the banks of river Barak under the Clean India Movement was undertaken by Swarnojyoti Foundation along with NYKS on Friday.  They have cleaned a part of Annapurna Ghat in Silchar, collected 4 big bags of plastic and other waste materials and dumped the garbage at the specific place.

Speaking during the occasion, President of Swarnojyoti Foundation, Swarnali Bhattacharjee said, “Plastic takes millions of years to decompose and also harms marine life. So it is our duty to dispose wastes properly. We urge upon the people not to throw any waste in the water or in the river bank. This can cause a big mess and burden on mother nature.” She also appealed to keep our city, our water, our earth and our mentality clean.

Apart from Swarnali Bhattacharjee, Manash Bhattacharjee, Sanchita Nath Chopra and others also took part in the cleaning campaign.
