16 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Wednesday, 1 death at SMCH

Aug 25: A total of 16 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Wednesday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 2,752 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 12 persons were found positive, whereas 04 more were detected positive in RT-PCR test. It needs mention here that 14 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Tuesday.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 24 August to 5 PM on 25 August) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as:

• Dilip Deb (50) from Meherpur in Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 20 August, 2021. He, however, breathed his last at 5.38 PM on 24 August, 2021.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 25 August, there were 26 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 01 patients were put under ventilator support and 22 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 02 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 06 of them were discharged.
