Alumnus of Silchar Holy Cross appointed as 1st Director of Directorate of Research at Sikkim Manipal University

July 20: Bidita Khandelwal, an alumnus of Holy Cross School, Silchar was appointed to the coveted post of the first Director of the Directorate of Research at Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), in addition to her existing responsibilities as Professor, Department of Medicine at Central Referral Hospital (CRH) & SMIMS. A student of the 1984 batch of Holy Cross HS School, Silchar, Professor (Dr) Bidita Khandelwal was the Associate Dean Research, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS). In addition to her existing responsibilities as Professor, Department of Medicine at Central Referral Hospital (CRH) & SMIMS. She passed HS from GC College, Silchar in 1986 and then did her MBBS from Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

Dr. Khandelwal joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, CRH in 2001. She is the first Publon Academy certified peer reviewer in the state of Sikkim. Dr. Khandelwal has additionally mentored many MD (Medicine & allied specialty) medical students & residents, and also supervised many MD postgraduate and Ph.D. doctoral thesis.

Dr. Khandelwal is married to Dr Sanjeev Kumar Prasad, Clinical Director of the Department of Paediatrics, STNM Hospital, Gangtok. The batch mates of Prof (Dr) Bidita Khandelwal in Holy Cross HS School, Silchar have expressed happiness at her appointment as the first Director of the Directorate of Research at Sikkim Manipal University (SMU).
