43 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Saturday, 2 deaths at SMCH

Active cases 377; discharged 28 in the district on Saturday

July 10:  A total of 43 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Saturday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 3,617 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 43 were found positive, whereas till the filing of this report, RT-PCR test results were not made available. Also, during the day, 28 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 377 active cases. It needs mention here that 57 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Friday. Moreover, on Saturday, 2,222 persons were vaccinated in Cachar.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 9 July to 5 PM on 10 July) witnessed the death of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening. Both the deceased are from Karimganj district.

They were identified as Parimal Paul (82) from Srigouri in Karimganj district and Nepal Chandra Das (78) from Badarpur in Karimganj district.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 10 July, there were 109 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 50 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 59 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 72 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 12 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 09 of them were discharged.
