২৪ অক্টোবরঃ ওয়ান ডে ইন্টারন্যাশনালে ১০ হাজারের ক্লাবে ঢুকে পড়লেন বিরাট কোহলি। শচীন তেণ্ডুলকরকে টপকে তিনিই এখন দ্রুততম। তেন্ডুলকর ২৫৯ ইনিংসের শেষে ১০ হাজারের গণ্ডি পেরিয়েছিলেন। বিরাট ওই পথ অতিক্রম করলেন মাত্র ২০৫ ইনিংসে। দশ হাজারি ক্লাবে তিনি ত্রয়োদশ ব্যাটসম্যান। তেণ্ডুলকর ছাড়াও তালিকায় রয়েছেন সৌরভ গাঙ্গুলি, মহেন্দ্র সিং ধোনি ও রাহুল দ্রাবিড়।

বুধবার বিশাখাপত্তনমে ওয়েস্টইন্ডিজের বিরুদ্ধে দ্বিতীয় ওয়ান ডে ম্যাচে কোহলি যখন খেলতে নামছিলেন, তখন শৃঙ্গে পৌঁছার লক্ষ্যে প্রয়োজন ছিল ৮১ রানের।  ৩৭-তম ওভারে অ্যাশলে নার্সের বলে আলতো ছোঁয়া লাগান। সহজে এক রান তুলে নিলেন। সঙ্গে বিশ্বরেকর্ড। বিসিসিআই-র ভারপ্রাপ্ত সভাপতি সি কে খান্না কোহলিকে অভিনন্দন জানিয়ে বলেন, ৩০ বছর বয়সের আগেই ১০ হাজার! বিরাট আরও অনেক মাইলস্টোন তৈরি করবে।

তেণ্ডুলকর অবশ্য এমনটাই প্রত্যাশা করছিলেন। কয়েক বছর আগেই বলেছেন, খুব খুশি হবো, কোহলি বা রোহিত শর্মার মতো খেলোয়াড় যদি আমার রেকর্ড ভেঙে দেয়।

October 24: Virat Kohli set foot in the ten thousand runs club in One Day International (ODI) cricket. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest scorer of10 thousand runs. Virat reached that honoured mark just from 205 ODI. He is the 30th batsman to accomplish this feat. Apart from Tendulkar, Saurav Gangully, M.S. Dhoni and Rahul Dravid are also members of that prestigious club.

On Wednesday, when Virat came to bat against West indies in the ODI at Visakhapatnam, he required on 81 runs to reach that coveted mark. In the 37th over, he took a single from the bowl of Ashle Narse and with it created a world record. Congratulating Virat, President in-charge of BCCI, C.K. Khanna said that it means a lot to achieve such a feat at such a young age of 30 and wished that he crosses many more milestones.

 

Tendulkar was also expecting the same. A few years ago he said that he would be very happy if Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma breaks his record.
