Bihu committees over 10 years old to be given ₹1.5 lakh by govt to hold Bihu functions: CM

Feb. 7: In view of Rongali Bihu festivities in April, Chief Minister Dr Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma requested organisers not to force businesses for donations. He also announced a grant of Rs 1.5 lakh to Bihu committees by the state government, which are over 10 years old & hold Bihu functions in the first week of Bohag month (15 April to 20 April). The Chief Minister said this during a press conference held on Monday at Janata Bhawan, Dispur. He also urged upon the business community to adopt a compassionate approach towards these Bihu committees this year as the state government is striving hard to revive the economy of the state.
