40 more tests positive in Cachar on Monday, day’s total 94
July 20: Another 40 persons were also tested as COVID-19 positive on Monday. Earlier during the day, 54 persons were detected as positive. With this, a total of 94 persons tested positive in Cachar district on 20 July. Out of the total of 94 positive patients, 37 of them are from Assam Rifles. Many during the day were detected with Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. This was confirmed by District Media Expert Suman Choudhury. However, there were chances that the numbers may rise at night. It needs mention here that 98 persons were tested positive on Sunday.
Suman Choudhury also informed that those detected on Monday were sent to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar, Foreigners’ Tribunal at Rongpur and Chibitabichiya Model Hospital for treatment. “As the number of positive cases are increasing by leaps and bounds, so we have made a makeshift hospital at Borkhola Degree College in Cachar. Around 300 patients could be accommodated there. From Tuesday onwards, we will admit new positive cases in this makeshift hospital at Borkhola,” said Mr. Choudhury.
Particulars of all 54 positive patients detected till Monday evening were not provided till the filing of this report. However, those whose particulars were provided as per two slots are Rahul Choudhury (27) from Shib Colony, who is asymptomatic but came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. His swab sample was collected on 19 July and his positive report came on 20 July. 58-year-old Rathindra Choudhury, also from Shib Colony tested positive during the day. He was categorised as detected positive from COVID screening area at SMCH. He too is asymptomatic.
Three more patients in the 1st slot on Monday who were categorised as detected positive from COVID screening area of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).Their swab samples were collected on 19 July and the reports came on 20 July. All of them are asymptomatic. They were identified as Nishikanta Roy (48) from Shyamananda Lane 2 in Cachar, Bimalendu Saha (69) from Ukil Patty, Anil Chandra Nath (68) from Tarapur. A 7-year-old child, Nibash Roy from Lakhishar in Cachar was tested positive with SARI symptoms on Monday. He was learnt to be symptomatic.
Another 4 persons in Cachar were tested positive as per COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test. Out of them, three are from a same family at Premtola, Silchar. They are Ayan Adhikari (84), Nabendra Kumar Adhikari (60) and Manjuri Adhikari (50). The 4th man to be detected positive in the Rapid Test on Monday is Vivek Suklabaidya (16) from Vivekananda Road, Silchar.
The 2nd slot contained particulars of 32 positive patients detected on Monday.A health care worker, Rima Das (34) from Ladies Hostel, Uttar Krishnapur in Cachar also tested positive during the day. Further, 6 persons from Siddeshwar Pt-II in Cachar were also detected COVID -19 positive on Monday. All of them are asymptomatic and came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. Their swab samples were collected on 18 July and their report came on Monday. They were identified as Arup Das (18), Sushmita Dev Laskar (29), Kanti Deb Laskar (29), Ratna Dey Laskar (53), Shyamali Dey Laskar (58) and Sukra Ree (44).
Vishnu Prasad Verma (23) from Marucherra, Cachar who has a travel history from Madhya Pradesh and was tested positive on Monday. Two persons from Sonai under Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (
Two children from Assam Basti, Tarapur were also infected with coronavirus during the day. They are Roshan Singh (11) and Ritu Singh (10). They also came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. They are asymptomatic.
Four persons from Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) were also detected as COVID-19 positive on Monday. They are Jeepshi Singha (32) from Nursing Hostel of SMCH, Sikha Das (40) from SMCH, Jasmine Rehman (31) from SMCH, Dr. Nurul Alam (32) from SMCH. Their source of contamination was not specified. Some among them are symptomatic.
Sandip Saha (27) from Ukilpatty, Silchar also tested positive on 20 July. He is symptomatic. Marina Gangmei (40) from Meherpur was also detected as positive. Their source of contamination was also not specified.
Chaitali Deb (34) from Harinagar Cachar came from Guwahati and was tested positive on Monday. Rinthu Paul (32) from Tarapur, Silchar came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. They are asymptomatic.
Out of the 54 positive cases detected on Monday in Cachar, 37 of them are from Assam Rifles. The 2nd slot contained the particulars of 11 personnel of Assam Rifles. They are DK Yadav (31), Prosenjit Singha (30), Anchal Singh (40), Biramani Singh (53), T.Lotha (36), Vallister (41), Bhola Yadav (30), Kuldip Raj (39), DS Jamatiya (47), ST AO (37) and Anil Kumar (53). Their source of contamination was also not specified.
The particulars of some more persons detected on Monday were yet to be received.
