4 more deaths registered in last 24 hours at SMCH
Sept. 10: After a day’s lull, 4 more deaths were registered at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) in the last 24 hours. Informing the same, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH said that out of the 4 deceased at SMCH, 01 of them is from Cachar district, 02 from Hailakandi and another 01 from Dharmanagar in Tripura. Those who died during the last 24 hours at SMCH were identified as:
- Rina Pathak (65) from Tarapur, Silchar (originally hails from Nalbari) was admitted at SMCH on 7 September. She died at 9.34 PM on 9 September. It needs mention here that the deceased is the mother of Dhrubajyoti Pathak, Nodal Officer of COVID-19 cremation/ burial of dead bodies. Her death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Pradip Kumar Roy (60) from Hailakandi was also admitted at SMCH on 6 September. He succumbed to the infection on 9 September. His death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Krishnamohan Das (62) from Hailakandi took admission at SMCH on 3 September. He died on 10 September. His death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Gopal Chandra Ghosh (65) from Dharmanagar in Tripura was admitted at SMCH on 8 September. He passed away at 6.15 PM on 9 September. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
Though the valley witnessed many deaths till now, yet all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be ruled out that, all of them were infected with coronavirus. Those COVID positive persons who die due to co-morbidities are usually not certified as ‘Covid-19’ death by the audit board.
