4 more deaths in last 24 hours at SMCH
August 31: The coronavirus pandemic has now led to a procession of death also in Barak Valley. Since the last few days, the valley witnessed many deaths, although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be denied that all of them were infected with coronavirus. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that in the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 4 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Out of the 4 deceased, two are from Cachar, 1 from Karimganj & 1 from Dharmanagar. The 4 deceased were identified as:
- Babul Uddin Laskar (58) from Lailapool in Cachar was admitted in SMCH at 3.35 PM on 30 August. He died at 7.45 PM on the same day. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Sabita Das (26) from Panchayat Road, Silchar was admitted in SMCH at 10.34 PM on 30 August. She, however, breathed her last at 11.15 PM on the same night. Her death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Himangshu Ranjan Paul (69) from Dharmanagar was admitted in SMCH at 9.20 PM on 21 August. he died at 8.40 PM on 30 August. His death was certified as Covid death.
- Anup Dutta (74) from Public School Road, Karimganj was admitted in SMCH at 6 PM on 24 August. He breathed his last at 4.15 AM on 31 August. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
