4 Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours
96 patients in ICU, 31 in ventilator support & 117 put under oxygen at SMCH
June 2: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 1 June to 5 PM on 2 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 04 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district, 01 each from Karimganj & Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:
- Promesh Paul (65) from Bazaricherra in Karmimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 31 May. He, however, passed away at 1.15 AM on 1 June.
- Renu Bala Chanda (81) from Nagar Tea Estate in Cachar took admission at SMCH on 28 May. He breathed his last 10.15 PM on 1 June
- Saffique Uddin Barbhuiya (45) from Gossainpur in Cachar got admitted at SMCH on 1 June. He expired at 7.45 AM on 2 June.
- Rumi Akhtar Laskar (22) from Lalamukh in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 31 May. She died at 11.50 AM on 2 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 2 June, there were 307 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 96 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 211 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 31 patients were put under ventilator support and 117 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 45 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 56 of them were discharged. Further, 48 of them have opted for home isolation.
