NIRF Rankings 2021: Assam Univ achieves 93rd rank, Gauhati Univ 45th & Tezpur Univ 46th

Sept. 9: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) under Ministry of Education, Government of India released the NIRF India Ranking 2021. On Thursday, the press was briefed by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during the e-release of NIRF rankings.  The ranking is done on the basis of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusive, and perception.

Assam University, Silchar has made much improvement. In 2020, Assam University was outside 100 position. In 2021, Assam University achieved 93rd position in NIRF India Ranking 2021. The varsity secured a score of 39.21.

Let’s have a glance at the rank secured by Assam University in NIRF Ranking in the last 4 years:

  • 2018: 87th Rank
  • 2019: 97th Rank
  • 2020: Outside 100th position
  • 2021: 93rd Rank

The following are the scores secured by the other Universities of North East India:

  • Gauhati University- Rank 45
  • Tezpur University- Rank 46
  • North Eastern Hill University (NEHU)- Rank 59

However, Mizoram University, Dibrugarh University and Rajiv Gandhi University in Arunachal Pradesh failed to secure a position within the 100.

IIT Madras has topped the Rankings in the overall category, while IISc Bengaluru has come second, which is followed by IIT Bombay at the third place. Along with the overall rankings, stream-wise rankings have also been released. Miranda House has topped the list under the college category this year. Lady Shri Ram College for Women of Delhi and Loyola College of Chennai has secured the second rank and third rank respectively.

 “The NIRF Indian rankings should not be considered as an end but the beginning of the improvement of quality in higher education,” said Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in his live webinar. This is the sixth edition of the NIRF rankings. The category of dental colleges was added last year, while this year, another new category has been added research institutions.
