Ganasur, Oasis & Dakhhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee pays tribute to Hirak Chakraborty

Nov. 1: A condolence meeting was organised jointly by Ganasur, Club Oasis and Dakhhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee at 11 AM on Sunday to mourn the recent demise of Sankarshan (Hirak) Chakraborty. The condolence meeting held in the premises of Club Oasis was attended by members of these organisations. Floral tribute was paid at the portrait of the deceased.

Congress leader, Hirak Chakraborty (63)  breathed his last in a hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday night at around 11.30 PM. Hirak Chakraborty, a resident of Adi Shib Bari Road also adorned in the past, the post of the President of Dakhhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee (Public School Road). He was suffering from cancer.

It needs mention here that his wife, Sikha Chakraborty, teacher of Netaji Vidya Bhavan, Silchar died just 18 days ahead of him in Kolkata due to cardiac arrest. Hirak Chakraborty is survived by his two daughters, Sharmistha Chakraborty and Dr. Parmita Chakraborty, son-in-law Bishal Roy and a host of kith and kin. His last rites was performed in Kolkata on Thursday.

Speaking during the occasion, Bidhan Chandra Roy, President of Dakhhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee said, “Certain deaths causes irreparable loss. The demise of Hirak Chakraborty has created a void, which could never be fulfilled.” Subrata Roy compered the condolence meeting. In a chocked voice, he spoke at length about the career and aspects of the life of Hirak Chakraborty. Pradip Das while expressing his views said that Hirak Chakraborty was a courageous person and at the same time loved to act in drama and sing devotional songs.

Others who also spoke during the condolence meeting were Buddha Das, Jayanta Kishore Das, Ashish Bhoumick, Bibhash Roy, Bijoy Khan, Debasish Shome and Joydeep Das. A minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the departed soul. After the condolence meeting, all present there went to the house of Hirak Chakraborty and met with his daughters. They assured to extend help to the family whenever required.
