24×7 emergency control room to safeguard “Durga Puja” in Cachar
way2barak, September 26:: In a move aimed at ensuring seamless coordination and swift response during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, the District Administration Cachar, under the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), has announced the activation of its District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) on a round-the-clock basis.
As per an official order issued by the Office of the District Commissioner-cum-Chairperson, DDMA, Cachar, the control room will remain functional 24×7 from September 28 to October 3, 2025. The arrangement has been made to handle any emergency situation that may arise during the grand festivities, which witness massive public participation across the district.
The District Emergency Operation Centre will be manned by existing staff of DDMA, Cachar, who will work in shifts to ensure continuous monitoring and coordination. Officials have been directed to meticulously maintain records of all messages and communications received and to promptly update the District Commissioner and other concerned authorities as per procedure.
Meanwhile,the Addl. District Commissioner & CEO, DDMA, Cachar, who issued the order, emphasized that all concerned departments and stakeholders must extend full cooperation to ensure the smooth functioning of the control room. The District Commissioner will remain overall in charge of the system.
It is noteworthy to mention that,to make emergency communication accessible to citizens, multiple contact options have been made available. Residents can reach the control room through landline numbers 03842-239249, 03842-234005, or the toll-free number 1077. Additionally, emergency services will be available on mobile/WhatsApp at 94016-24141 and through the email id ddma-cachar@assam.gov.in.
By setting up a dedicated 24×7 control room, the District Administration and DDMA have once again demonstrated their proactive approach to public safety, ensuring that Cachar’s citizens can celebrate Durga Puja with confidence and security.
