217 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Sunday, 3 deaths at SMCH
June 6: A total of 217 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Sunday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 9,405 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 212 were found positive, whereas 05 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO on Sunday evening. It needs mention here that 353 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Saturday.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 5 June to 5 PM on 6 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district, while 01 is from Hailakandi.
The deceased were identified as Gyas Uddin Choudhury (55) from Hailakandi, Dinomoni Singha (76) from Dolu in Cachar and Safa Begum Barbhuiya (55) from Kabuganj in Cachar.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 6 June, there were 248 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 98 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 150 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 27 patients were put under ventilator support and 142 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 37 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 24 of them were discharged. Further, 48 of them have opted for home isolation.
