209 gms heroine seized, one arrested

way2barak March 9: Based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted by Assam Police and 38 Assam Rifles, during which one drug peddler namely Sahaj Uddin (35), S/o Late Moskandar Ali Laskar, R/o Rajnagar, P.S. Dholai, Dist. Cachar (Assam), was apprehended.

Police informs that the vehicle, a white Maruti Baleno bearing Regd. No. AS 11 U 5969, was coming towards Silchar from Dholai and was detained at Silchar Bypass at about 9:30 PM. During the search of the vehicle, 17 soap boxes containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 209 grams were recovered. The value of seized article in Black market is worth Rs 1.25 Crore approximately.

Accordingly, the recovered contraband was seized after completing all necessary formalities under the NDPS Act under videography in presence of Independent Witnesses.
