20 premium Mercedez-Benz buses inducted by ASTC; buses will ply between Guwahati & Silchar
Nov. 6: Assam State Transport Corporation to ply (ASTC) took a step ahead in equipping itself with state-of-the-art premium Mercedez-Benz buses. On Friday, 20 such premium buses were flagged off by state Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal from Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati in presence of Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, legal advisor to CM Shantanu Bharali, ASTC Chairman Ashok Kr Bhattarai, Vice Chairman Dr. KK Dwivedi, and Commissioner & Secretary Department of Transport to the government of Assam Anand Prakash Tiwari.
Stating that Marcedes-Benz buses are known for their superior performance, Sonowal said that the buses inducted in ASTC need to be looked after to sustain their good services for long. Speaking on the occasion, Transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowary thanked the employees of the ASTC for rendering their duties dedicatedly during the COVID19 pandemic.
These new buses will operate between LGBI Airport, Guwahati and Silchar, Dibrugarh & Jorhat respectively. New day services have also been started between Dhubri – Guwahati, Lakhimpur – Tezpur routes and in the hilly regions of Haflong and Diphu to Hojai. As per sources, another 20 bus are soon to be introduced shortly.
