Ex-MP & former Dist Congress President Karnendu Bhattacharjee passes away

way2barak, Dec. 23: Karnendu Bhattacharjee, Ex-MLA, & ex-two times MP breathed his last at 9.44 AM on Friday. He also served as the President of Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC) for long 26 years. He was admitted in a private hospital in Noida due to old age related issues.

Expressing sorrow, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Saddened by the demise of veteran Congress leader, former MP & MLA of Silchar Karnendu Bhattachajee. His contribution to socio-economic development of Assam will always be remembered. I fondly recall my association with him. My deep condolences to the bereaved. Om Shanti!”

As per reports, the dead body of Karnendu Bhattacharjee will reach Silchar airport at 8 PM on Saturday. His body will then be taken to his residence at Malugram and from there to Silchar District Congress Office at 10 AM, where people will offer floral tributes to the deceased leader. At 12 noon, his dead body will be taken to Silchar crematorium.
