16 held after group clash between Kukis and Meiteis in Shillong

way2barak, May 5 : Meghalaya police have arrested 16 persons belonging to Kuki and Meitei communities after they were engaged in group clashes here following the ethnic violence between the two communities in neighbouring Manipur, officials said on Friday.

Police said that the clashes between the Kuki and Meitei communities occurred at Nongrim Hills near Mizo Morden School on Thursday evening.

Police forces immediately rushed to the area apprehended 16 persons of the two communities.

Senior police officials warned the people of both the communities of taking stringent actions against those try to vitiate the peace in the city.
