15 tests COVID-19 +ve in Cachar on Sunday, 2 deaths registered
April 18: On Sunday, 15 new cases of COVID-19 was reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 1,466 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 08 persons were found positive, whereas 07 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert at 7 PM on Sunday. It needs mention here that 21 persons tested positive in Cachar on Saturday.
At present, there are 173 active coronavirus cases in Cachar district. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice principal of SMCH informed that 20 Covid-19 patients are admitted at SMCH, out of which 02 patients are kept on ventilator support. On Sunday, 3 more patients were admitted at SMCH.
On Sunday, two persons lost their lives at SMCH. At 2 AM, a Covid-19 positive patient, Satyendra Mohan Roy (73 years), a resident of Premtala, Silchar breathed his last at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). As per reports, his death occured due to sudden cardiac arrest. This was certified as non-Covid death by State Death Audit Board. During the day, at 4.15 PM, another Covid-19 positive patient from Tarapur, Silchar breathed his last at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The deceased was identified as Hemendra Kumar Chanda (70). As per reports, he died due to severe Covid AKI.
