127 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Monday, 610 discharged & 2 deaths at SMCH

There are 1,480 active cases in Cachar

Jan. 24: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Monday at 6.30 PM. As per the latest data, a total of 127 persons were found positive in the district on 24 January. Also, 610 patients were discharged (580 from home & 30 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,480 out of which, 1,259 are in home isolation whereas 121 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Sunday, 224 persons were found positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 598 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 85 persons were found positive, whereas 42 were detected positive out of 432 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 5,356 whereas during this phase, 3,860 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 23 January to 12 noon of 24 January, 2022.

The deceased were identified as:

  • Jagadish Ghosh (75) from Patherkandi in Karimganj district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH at 8.30 PM on 21 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 6.40 AM on 24 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from uremic encephalopathy, aspiration pneumonia.
  • Sanjay Das (45) from Bihara in Cachar district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH at 11.52 AM on 23 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 9.16 AM on 24 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from uremic encephalopathy, acute kidney injury.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 24 January, there were 27 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 06 patients were put under ventilator support, and 12 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 10 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 08 were discharged. A total of 35 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 10 in RTPCR on Monday. Majority of them detected positive on Monday opted for home isolation.
