12 more deaths registered in Assam including 1 in Cachar, toll rises to 540

Sept. 18: On Friday, 12 more persons died in Assam due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state has now gone upto 540. In a tweet, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Very sad & anguished to inform that 12 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease. My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.” The 12 deceased were identified as:

• Pronob Nath (59) of Cachar
• Hussain Ali (75) & Bijay Krishna Mazumdar (60) of Nagaon
• Manik Paul (66) of Kamrup Metro
• Anjali Basumatary (45) of Chirang
• Shailendra Das (61) of Karbi Anglong
• Minati Barthakur (38) & Rehana Begum (52) of Sivasagar
• Kanak Kachari (53) & Juri Sutradhar (25) of Jorhat
• Narayan Ch Kalita (58) of Nalbari
• Bhadreswar Gogoi (59) of Dibrugarh.
